Privacy Policy

Effective 15 August 2026 · Last updated 15 August 2026

1. Who we are

This policy describes how the SnoozePulse mobile app (“SnoozePulse”, “the app”, “we”) handles information. SnoozePulse is developed by the maintainer of the public project at github.com/JobinMathewP/SnoozePulse.

The app has no user accounts and no backend that stores your sleep data.

2. Summary

SnoozePulse uses the microphone during a sleep session that you start, detects snoring on the device, and may save short audio snippets plus session metrics on that same device. That information is not uploaded to us. We do not sell data and we do not track you across apps or websites.

3. Data processed on your device

When you run a sleep session, the app may process:

  • Microphone audio, used only to detect snoring and to save short snore snippets you can play back.
  • Session metrics derived from that audio, such as duration, snore count, loudness, scores, and a timeline.
  • Local database records and audio files stored in the app’s private storage on your phone.
  • Battery level and Low Power Mode, used only to show readiness warnings and to simplify the on-screen waveform.

Processing happens on the device. Under Apple’s App Privacy definition, data that never leaves the device is not “collected” by us.

4. What we do not collect

  • We do not create an account or ask for your email in the app.
  • We do not upload audio, snippets, or sleep metrics to our servers.
  • We do not use advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs that send your sleep data off the device.
  • We do not sell or share personal information.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.

5. Permissions

Microphone. Required to detect snoring. Capture starts only after you tap Start Sleep Session and stops when you slide to end the session, or when the session is otherwise closed. The system may also show a recording indicator while the microphone is in use, including while the screen is locked.

Notifications (Android). Used for the ongoing foreground-service notice while a session is running. These are local system notifications, not push messages from a server.

You can revoke permissions in system Settings. The app cannot monitor sleep without the microphone.

6. Storage and deletion

Session history and snippets stay on your device until you delete them in the app or remove the app. Deleting SnoozePulse removes the local database and stored snippets.

If you back up your phone with Apple iCloud, Google Backup, or another device backup tool, those backups are controlled by that provider’s policy, not by SnoozePulse.

7. Children

SnoozePulse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Not medical advice

SnoozePulse is a wellness product. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent sleep apnea or any other medical condition. Scores and counts are informational only. Talk to a qualified clinician about health concerns.

9. This website

These pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Visiting them may cause GitHub to process technical data such as IP address, as described in GitHub’s privacy statement. That is separate from the app. The app does not send your sleep data to GitHub or to us.

10. Your rights

Because sleep data stays on your phone, you already have access to it in the app. You can delete it by removing sessions or uninstalling SnoozePulse. If you are in a region with additional privacy rights and believe we hold personal information about you, contact us using the details below.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
